<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air/fuel ratio detecting element having high accuracy and fast response. <P>SOLUTION: The air/fuel ratio detecting element comprises a pump cell 11 having a pump electrode 110, a sensor cell 12 having a sensor electrode 120, and a chamber 130 having at least two faces covered by the pump cell 11 and the sensor cell 12. The chamber 130 is provided with 2-5 communication holes 2 having the same diameter so as to introduce a measured gas. The communicating hole 2 forms a communication hole projection image 20 on the face of the sensor cell 12 opposite to a chamber 2 and having the sensor electrode 120. When a line is assumed that passes through the center of the communication hole projection image 20 and the gravity center 121 of the sensor electrode 120 on a face of the sensor cell 12 opposite to the chamber 130, the sensor electrode 120 is divided into two divided planes by the line, and areas of the divided planes become equal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
