Described is a process for assembling metallic nanoparticles onto any solid substrate. The process consists in the preparation of metallic nanoparticles protected with PVP layers, and the incorporation of said nanoparticles onto solid substrates coated with thin ODA films. The PVP polymer acts as a protector of the metallic nanoparticles, thereby controlling their size and stabilizing said particles against agglomeration, moreover interacting with the NH3+ ionized groups of the amine (ODA) film by ion-dipole interaction in order to incorporate the nanoparticles. In the present incorporation and organization process there is no substantial restriction regarding the pH of the metallic nanoparticle colloidal solution compared to current processes. In the proposed method for incorporating metallic nanoparticles, the process for organizing said nanoparticles is spontaneous. The incorporation speed may be controlled varying the pH of the colloidal solution, while the incorporation amount is controlled by adjusting the immersion time of the substrate into the colloidal solution. A thin ODA film is formed over any solid substrate so as to organize any type of metallic nanoparticles thereon.
