A washing machine and a dehydration method thereof are provided to exactly sense time when a dehydrating process ends so as to reduce time for laundry process by mounting a rotary sensing unit and a control unit. A washing machine comprises a reservoir(10) containing water; a dewatering bin(20) placed in the reservoir and installed to dehydrate laundry by the rotation; an actuating unit(30) combined to the dewatering bin and installed to rotate the dewatering bin; a rotary sensing unit(40) combined to a predetermined part of the reservoir and installed to detect whether or not the dewatering bin rotates; and a control unit(50) connected to the rotary sensing unit and installed to inform the end of a dehydrating process of the washing machine when the dewatering bin stops. The rotary sensing unit comprises an auxiliary rotary sensing unit(41) installed at predetermined part of the reservoir and installed to transmit air into the upper unit by the rotation of the dewatering bin; and a water level sensor(43) for measuring air transmitted by the rotary sensing unit and then detecting whether or not the dewatering bin rotates.
