A multitasking method of a portable terminal is provided to be capable of performing two tasks at the same time through two external displays through a multitasking function that conducts the second service mode while the first service mode is performed. The first display of a portable terminal carries out the first service mode(201). If the second service mode is selected while the first service mode is carried out in the first display, the first display executes the first service mode while the second display of the terminal executes the second service mode(202,203). The first service mode is a mode for outputting audio data and video data. The second service mode is a mode for outputting the video data.
