<p>In a manufacturing system utilizing a cigarette maker (4) linked to a packer (5), cigarettes (2) temporarily surplus to requirements are stored in containers (3), each provided with an opening (11) by way of which it can be filled and emptied. A full container (3) is picked up by a first pivoting arm (57) from a magazine (31) and overturned above a bearing surface (51a) advancing along a feed direction (X) parallel to this same surface, so as to direct the opening (11) downwards and allow the cigarettes (2) to drop onto the surface (51a). During the step of unloading the cigarettes (2), the container (3) rests on a hopper (78) and is traversed from a first station (79) toward a second station (80) along a direction (Y) parallel and opposite to the feed direction (X) of the bearing surface (51a), so that the cigarettes (2) can be released more quickly from the container (3). After being emptied, the container is picked up from the second station (80) by a second pivoting arm (67) and put into a magazine (27) with other empty containers (3).</p> |
