CORRECTION OF FUELLING ERRORS IN A FUEL-INJECTED ENGINE

A method is described for compensating for fuelling errors in a fuel injected engine, in particular a diesel engine, in which demand signals are produced by a control unit to determine the opening times of fuel injectors of the engine to deliver a scheduled quantity of fuel to each cylinder of the engine during a combustion cycle. The method comprises modifying the demand signals based upon the difference between the fuel quantity scheduled by the processor to be supplied to the engine during an operating interval and the quantity of fuel drawn from the fuel tank during the same operating interval.
