<p>An oriented film having its optical anisotropy controlled that is suitable for use in liquid crystal displays as a protective film for polarizing plate with phase-contrast function, or retardation sheet; a process for producing the same; and a laminate utilizing the oriented film. There is provided oriented film (X) obtained by forming a resin composition into a film according to melt extrusion casting and drawing the film in at least one direction, wherein: (1) the resin composition comprises specified maleimide-olefin copolymer (A) and acrylonitrile- styrene copolymer (B) containing 21 to 45 wt.% of acrylonitrile units, in which the content of component (A) is in the range of 50 to 99 wt.% while the content of component (B) is in the range of 1 to 50 wt.%; (2) the maximum phase contrast (Rp) at 550 nm along in-plane direction satisfies the relationship of the formula 10 nm < Rp <= 400 nm, and; (3) the phase contrast (Rth) at 550 nm along thickness direction satisfies the relationship of the formula 0 nm < |Rth| <= 400 nm. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007</p> |
