A position measuring system and method using a portable internet signal are provided to easily measure the position by using the relative delay of an existing portable internet system. A position measuring system using a portable internet signal includes a base station(202) for supplying information about peripheral base stations(204,206) and transmitting the scanning result transmitted from a terminal(100); the terminal for receiving the information about the peripheral base stations and transmitting the result of scanning the peripheral base stations according to a position measurement request; and a positioning server(400) for measuring the position of the terminal by using relative signal delay information between the base station and the peripheral base station included in the scanning result and the position information of the base station.
