An imaging device comprising a color signal generating means (20) for outputting first color signals (R5, G5, B5) according to incident lights, and a matrix computing means (67) that produces first color signals, color signals obtained by multiplying the first color signals by a first constant (i) as an index, color signals obtained by multiplying the first color signals by a second constant (j) as an index, and second color signals (R6, G6, B6) obtained by performing matrix computation, including multiplying by matrix coefficients, on these color signals. The first and second constants and matrix coefficients are so defined that combined characteristics of the color signal generating means (20) and a spectral sensitivity characteristics correcting means (6) approximate to the color vision characteristics of a human or spectral sensitivity characteristics obtained by linear- transforming them. Accordingly, a good color reproducibility can be implemented to enable a high-sensitivity imaging in the dark without using an infrared ray removing filter for color vision correcting in the imaging device. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
