AQUEOUS CARRIER SYSTEMS FOR WATER-INSOLUBLE MATERIALS

A composition containing at least one organic phospholipid capable of formin g bilayers in aqueous solution; at least one amphoteric surfactant present in an amount by weight equal to or greater than the amoun t of the phospholipid; and at least one nonionic surfactant present in an amount by weight equal to or greater than the amount of the phospholipid. The invention also relates to a delivery system for water-insoluble ingredients containing the above components, at least one water-insoluble ingredient, and an aqueous phase, wherein the organic phospholipid, amphoteric surfactant, and nonionic surfactant are present in a combined amount sufficient to allow the water-insoluble ingredient to be incorporated into the system. A method of treating keratino us substances is also disclosed.
