A display device and a method for controlling the same are provided to edit the specific portion of a transport stream within one recorded material while the edited portion is continuously reproduced according to preference of a user, thereby providing a convenient UI(User Interface) to the user of the display device. A decoder(104) is configured to decode a transport stream signal. A controller(106) is configured to block the display of a portion of a recorded material, where a blocking is set, by using a portion of an unused field of the transport stream as a blocking flag. A storage(105) is configured to store the transport stream signal including the blocking flag. The portion of the unused field of the transport stream corresponds to an unused portion of a header pat of the transport stream.
