A fastener (24) for a top-filled tamper-evident reclosable plastic package (10) is disclosed. The package (10) includes first and second opposing panel s (12, 14) joined along a pair of sides (16) and a bottom (20) bridging the sides (12, 14). The fastener (24) includes first and second opposing tracks (30, 32) along a top of the package (10). The first and second tracks (30, 3 2) include respective first and second interlocking profiles (34, 36) and respective first and second fins (38, 40) extending from the respective firs t and second profiles (34, 36). The first and second fins (38, 40) are joined to each other at their respective lower ends. A preferential area of weakness (42) is disposed along or near the juncture of the first and second fins. While the fastener is attached to the first panel (12), the fastener is initially at least partially unattached to the second panel (14) so as to allow the package to be filled with a product via a fill opening (44) betwee n the fastener (24) and the second panel (14). |
