The invention is directed to the use of an auxotrophic attenuated strain of Listeria monocytogenes which expresses an antigen, wherein said auxotrphic attenuated strain comprises a mutation in both a dal gene and a dat gene of said Listeria monocytogenes, for eliciting a T cell immune response to said antigen in a mammal. This invention is also directed to a vaccine.
