SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTHENTICATING USING TWICE EXTENSIBLE AUTHENTICATION PROTOCOL SCHEME IN A BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An authentication system using a twice extensible authentication protocol scheme in a broadband wireless access communication system and a method thereof are provided to perform authentication by using an EAP(Extensible Access Protocol)-in-EAP scheme using a twice PMK(Pairwise Master Key). In a method for performing authentication using a twice EAP(Extensible Authentication Protocol) scheme in a broadband wireless access communication system including a mobile terminal, a base station and an AAA(Authorization, Authentication and Accounting) server, the mobile terminal and the base station and the AAA server obtain a first master session key(MSK) by performing the first EAP authentication as to the mobile terminal by using an EAP scheme(511). After performing the first EAP authentication, the mobile terminal, the base station and the AAA server obtain a second MSK by performing the second EAP authentication as to the mobile phone by using the EAP scheme(515). The second EAP authentication is the user authentication.
