A mobile liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption of the LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device by decreasing the swing widths of a common voltage and a data signal. A mobile liquid crystal display device includes an output buffer(45) and power switches(SW1,SW2). The output buffer is connected to one of a data line and a common electrode of an LCD panel. The power switches divide one horizontal period into an on-period, during which the output buffer supplies the output signal, and an off-period, during which the output buffer is turned off, and selectively drive the output buffer during one of the on and off periods. The LCD display device includes a ground switch(SW3), which connects an output line of the output buffer to a ground potential.
