A coin counting device is provided to automatically count coins by quickly transferring the coins at regular intervals and to prevent overload of a driving unit by immediately discharging defective coins or foreign materials. A coin counting device having a counted number sensing unit(30) installed on a transfer passage(12) to detect the sum of coins includes: a frame(10) having a circular receiving part(11) and a transfer tool(13) communicating with the transfer passage and a return eject port(15) returning the defective coins or foreign materials, which are formed by cutting each side wall(14); a transfer rotary unit(20) rotatably installed in the receiving part of the frame and provided with a coin receiving groove(21) on the outer peripheral surface to transfer the inserted coins to the transfer tool at regular intervals by rotating power; a high-speed sending roller(40) quickly passing the coins through the counted number sensing unit at constant speed by pushing the coins delivered to the transfer tool by rotating power; a forcible return unit(60) installed on the upside of the frame and formed with an opening/closing projection at the bottom side to open and close the return eject port; and a lift member(53) opening the return eject port by lifting up the forcible return unit to return the defective coins or foreign materials when the transfer rotary unit is reversely turned.
