An LCD and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to simultaneously form a black matrix and a spacer through one mask process by applying a resin on a lower substrate including a thin film transistor, a color filter and a pixel electrode and patterning the resin through a photolithography process using a double halftone mask. A lower substrate(120) faces an upper substrate(100) and includes a thin film transistor(T) and a color filter(136). A dual column spacer(104) is formed between the upper and lower substrates, maintains a cell gap, and has different heights. A black matrix pattern(102) prevents light interference of the color filter, and is patterned simultaneously with the dual column spacer. |
