METHOD OF PURIFYING AMINO ACID

A method of isolating a purified amino acid from an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt of the amino acid, which includes (1) a cation- exchange step in which the aqueous solution of an amino acid alkali metal salt is subjected to a desalting purification treatment with a moving-bed continuous ion exchanger employing a cation-exchange resin to obtain an aqueous solution of a crude amino acid and (2) an anion-exchange step in which an iminodicarboxylic acid which is a coexistent by-product is adsorptively removed from the resultant aqueous solution of a crude amino acid with a weakly basic anion-exchange resin and the aqueous crude-amino- acid solution is kept being passed even after the iminodicarboxylic acid has been adsorbed to the breakthrough point for the weakly basic anion- exchange resin. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
