A lamp driving device of an LCD is provided to reduce a power loss by reducing a process for changing a common voltage into a backlight driving voltage, and reducing a manufacturing cost by excluding an inverter. A rectification smoothing unit converts common power(30) to a DC(Direct Current) power. A power compensation circuit unit boosts the DC power converted through the rectification smoothing unit. A DC/AC(Alternating Current) converter converts and boosts the DC power boosted through the power compensation circuit unit into AC power required for backlight driving. The DC/AC converter includes a switching block for converting DC power into AC power, and a transformer(36) for boosting the AC power converted through the switching block.
