FLUORESCENT LAMP AND BACK LIGHT UNIT USING THE SAME

A fluorescent lamp and a backlight unit using the same are provided to make a current balance uniform by minimizing variations of contact areas between external electrodes of the fluorescent lamp and a discharge pipe. A discharge pipe(11) includes a fluorescent material and a discharge gas. First and second external electrodes(13a,13b) are inserted to both edges of the discharge pipe. A first insulator is applied to inner walls of the first and second external electrodes. A second insulator is formed on outer surfaces of the first and second external electrodes. The first and second insulator are formed of a thermosetting resin. The first and second insulator are formed of an enamel material.
