摘要 A transflective type LCD is provided to solve the image-inversion problem occurring due to, for example, normally-white mode of a transmissive region and normally-black mode of a reflective region, by respectively applying different voltages to the transmissive region and the reflective region of a liquid crystal layer. An transflective type LCD comprises first and second polarizing films(11,15) having polarizing axes perpendicular to each other, and a liquid crystal layer(13) interposed between the first and second polarizing films. The liquid crystal layer defines an array of pixels each including a reflective region(21) and a transmissive region(22). A liquid crystal molecule of the liquid crystal layer has a major axis, which is extended in parallel to or perpendicularly to the polarizing direction of the light incident onto the reflective region of the liquid crystal layer. Each pixel includes a pixel electrode receiving a pixel signal, a first common electrode(37) receiving a first common signal for the reflective regions of respective pixels, and a second common electrode(38) receiving a second common signal for the transmissive regions of respective pixels.
