An LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to realize the control of wide viewing angle and narrow viewing angle, by disposing a viewing angle controlling cell consisting of an FLC(Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal) layer on an upper side or a lower side of an LCD panel. An LCD comprises an LCD panel(100) and a viewing angle controlling cell(200) contacted with the LCD panel. The LCD panel is composed of an array substrate(111), a color filter substrate(141), and a liquid crystal layer(151) interposed between the array substrate and the color filter substrate. The viewing angle controlling cell is composed of a lower substrate(211) having a first electrode(213), an upper substrate(241) having a second electrode(243), and an FLC layer(251) interposed between the lower substrate and the upper substrate.
