The invention relates to an additional heating device for a motor vehicle. The inventive device consists of: a unit heater which is heated by the internal combustion engine coolant; and a circuit for recycling the exhausts gases from the engine, comprising an exchanger (1) for cooling the exhaust gases, which is cooled by the engine coolant (2), said exchanger (1) being connected in parallel with the coolant circuit which is connected to the unit heater. The aforementioned exhaust gas recycling circuit comprises a valve (4) for controlling the flow of recycled exhaust gases to the engine intake (3). The invention is characterised in that the gas recycling circuit comprises a bypass (7) for directing the exhaust gases towards the exhaust manifold (6) of the engine, said bypass (7) comprising a valve (8) for controlling the exhaust gases returning to the exhaust (6).
