The tubular heating body (1) has at least two lateral, vertically running collection tubes (2,3), with which are connected laterally extending heating tubes (4) with preferably parallel arranged and horizontally running tube sections or tube bends, together with a forward flow connection (5) and a back flow connection (6) for feed and withdrawal of a heating medium. The lower two heating tubes or tube sections (4a,4b) or the lower and upper two heating tube or tube sections are connected with the collection tubes. The forward flow connection and the back flow connection are selectively connected with the right or left collection tube. Freely selectable in one of the collection tubes an electrical heating insert is arranged. Connected to the tubular heating body, by rotation through 180 degrees, a right or left-hand heating unit is connectable.
