LECTIN PROTEIN PREPARED FROM KOREAN MARINE CRAB MACROPHTHALMUS JAPONICUS, PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME AND THE USE THEREOF

A lectin protein prepared from Korean marine crab Macrophthalmus japonicus, a process for preparing the same and use thereof are provided to diagnose cancer by specifically recognizing N-glycolylneuraminic acid which is specifically expressed from cancer cells. The lectin protein prepared from the blood lymph of Korean marine crab Macrophthalmus japonicus is provided, wherein the lectin protein has molecular weight of 65kDa and binds to sugar proteins including N-glycolylneuraminic acid by hemagglutination or hemagglutination inhibition. The process for preparing the lectin protein comprises the steps of: diluting the blood lymph of Korean marine crab Macrophthalmus japonicus with NaCl; filtering the diluted lymph to remove precipitates; centrifuging the filtered solution and separating the supernatant; and subjecting the supernatant to Sephacryl S-200 column or affinity column using bovine submaxillary mucin or tyroglobulin.
