A translucent closing member (18) is provided on an emission side opening of a concave ellipsoidal mirror (11) to form a closed space in the concave ellipsoidal mirror (11). A light shielding member (12a) is formed on a discharge lamp (10) side surface of the translucent closing member (18). The concave ellipsoidal mirror (11) collects light emitted from the discharge lamp (10) and emits it to the outside. The light shielding member (12a) shields light, out of the light emitted from the concave ellipsoidal mirror (11) to the outside, reflected and returning to the discharge lamp (10) side. Temperature rise at each part of the discharge lamp (10) is suppressed to improve reliability of a light source device (17a). ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
