A device for operating lamps for a liquid crystal display module, and an operation method using the same are provided to maintain balance of life span of lamps and uniformly maintain brightness of the lamps by equally using the lamps in case of using a backlight in a high brightness mode and a low brightness mode, and reduce power consumption in case of a low brightness mode. A first lamp(121) and a second lamp(122) irradiate light. A memory(130) stores total lighting time of the first lamp and the second lamp. A microcomputer(100) receives the total lighting time of the first lamp and the second lamp from the memory for lighting a lamp having less lighting time of the first lamp and the second lamp. |
