An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method of manufacturing the LCD are provided to prevent light from leaking by forming protrusions and maintain a uniform cell gap. An LCD includes an LCD panel(400), a plurality of spacers(540), a plurality of switching elements, a plurality of metal lines, an insulating layer(440), and a plurality of protrusions. The LCD panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate bonded to each other having a liquid crystal layer formed between them. The plurality of spacers are formed on the first substrate and maintain a gap between the first substrate and the second substrate. The plurality of switching elements are formed on the second substrate. The plurality of metal lines are connected to the switching elements. The insulating layer is formed on the metal lines. The plurality of protrusions are formed on the insulating layer and correspond to the spacers. The protrusions include first protrusions(505) for preventing the spacers from being deviated from their positions and second protrusions(502) for supporting the spacers. |
