An anesthesia breathing circuit (100) has an inspiratory tube (112), an expiratory tube (116), and a connection (118, 122) that allows a mask (126) to communicate with both the inspiratory tube (112) and the expiratory tube (116). The present invention resides in using a material which incorporates a scent-releasing agent to fabricate at least one element of the breathing circuit (100) through which gas is fed to the mask (126) from an anesthesia machine (128). In one preferred embodiment, the scented element is a segment (300) that may be coupled to conventional elements of an anesthesia breathing circuit (312) so as to form a part of the inspiratory tube (310); the scented element can then be uncoupled when the scent is no longer desired. |
