The press for production of non-round ceramic articles has an upper tool (1) and a lower tool (3). The upper tool has the contour on its inner face (10) and the lower tool has a membrane to produce the outer surface of the ceramic article. The upper and lower tools are positioned adjacently in the press and the edge of the upper tool is formed so that the press ridge (8) reinforces the ceramic article.
