The present invention relates to a method for the formation of colony varieties of crop plants and production of their seeds. Based on their phenotypes, different single-genotype varieties with identical or uniform maturity and plant height will be matched to form a colony variety for a specific breeding aim. Each of the single-genotype varieties in a colony variety will be multiplied separately and their seeds will be mixed in a specific ratio according to the breeding aim. The colony varieties generated in such a method are characterized by consistency, stability and specificity in their phenotype.
