A color filter array substrate, and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to simplify a process by removing additional white resin and photolithography processes, reduce the manufacturing cost for a white color filter, and improve the manufacturing yield by reducing a layer. Black matrices are formed on a substrate(101). Substrate etching grooves are formed at red, green, and blue sub-pixel areas divided by the black matrices. Red color filters(104r), green color filters(104g), and blue color filters(104b) are formed in the substrate etching grooves. Spacers(115) are formed at an area overlapped with the black matrices.
