A method and a system for providing sound effects during a call are provided to enable an MSC(Mobile Switching Center) to release the first speech path and make the call between originating and receiving terminals connected through the second speech path and enable a sound effect providing server to separately supply the sound effects, which a user of the originating terminal requests, to the originating and receiving terminals through the second speech path, so that a subscriber can receive a sound effect service through simple key operations during the call. A method for providing sound effects during a call comprises the following steps of: forming the first speech path between a calling party and a called party(S1~S5); forming the second speech path between the calling party and the called party through a sound effect providing server when a service request signal is generated from the calling party or the called party(S6~S15); and releasing the first speech path and making the sound effect providing server supply the sound effects through the second speech path(S16).
