METHOD OF CONTROLLING A WASHING MACHINE HAVING WATER SOFTENER

A method of controlling a washing machine with a water softener is provided to reduce the repair cost by operating the washing or rinsing course with only cool water without any brine supply apparatus. A method of controlling a washing machine is composed of: a step(306) of supplying the water through a water softener; a step(312) of heating the water supplied to the washing machine; and a step(318) of re-supplying the heated water to the water softener and regenerating the light water component adsorption material of the water softener. The washing machine operates the washing or rinsing course by receiving only cool water from the outside. The light water component adsorption material in the water softener is regenerated by softening the water by the water softener if the electric conductivity of the water supplied to the washing machine is over the predetermined set value, and the regeneration of the water softener is judged to be needed.
