The invention relates to a device for receiving or growing plants, e.g. vegetables or ornamental plants, said device consisting of a cylindrical hollow body (2) that can be rotatably driven about a horizontal axis by means of an electric motor (29) and is designed in such a way as to receive a plurality of plant containers (3) in the peripheral region thereof, said containers being embodied in such a way as to radially receive plants on the inner side in the mounted state. The perforated bottom region of the plant containers (3) protruding from the hollow body (2) is dipped, during the rotary movement about the above-mentioned axis, into a basin (16) located beneath the hollow body (2) and containing a nutrient solution (17). During said rotational movement, the plants are subjected to the irradiation of a fixed linear light source (23) which extends coaxially to the cited axis and has a uniform omnidirectional characteristic in a plane perpendicular to the axis, the radiation power of the light source being used correspondingly in a uniform manner on all sides. According to the inner peripheral surface of the hollow body (2), the surface requirement of the inventive device is smaller compared that of a flat arrangement of the plants. |
