An electric field sensor or a magnetic field sensor includes an optical fiber (112) and an electric optical layer (115) or a magnetic optical layer. The electric optical layer (115) or the magnetic optical layer is arranged on an end surface (135) at the end of the optical fiber (112). The end surface (135) of the optical fiber (112) has a convex shape. The optical fiber has a substantially cone shape whose end portion is extended. The electric optical layer or the magnetic optical layer may be provided at the side surface of the end portion of the substantial cone. A dielectric layer may be further provided between the electric optical layer or the magnetic optical layer and the end surface.
