The brush body is produced from several different injection molded components. In a first station(4) a first body part(5), typically a handle, is injection molded and then, in a second station(6), a further body part is injected onto the first part. During the second stage injection the melt for the injected second body part flows around prefabricated bristle bundles which become embedded to form a brush head(20). A hard plastic component is injected at the first station(4) to form the first body part(5) and the second body part is molded in a softer material. Each body part molded at the first station is gripped at one end(12) and fed to the second molding station(6) by a turning movement. During injection at the second station the brush body parts are gripped in a cassette(14) or an tool indexing plate with which they are moved to a third injection station and/or a demolding station(18). Several cassette or index plates may circulate from the second stage injection station to at least one third injection station and from the latter to a demolding station outside the tool area. Cassettes and brushes at the demolding station are removed and empty cassettes are supplied with bristle bundles at a feeding station(17) from where they return to the second injection station.
