A heat exchanger especially for a vehicle has a lightweight construction with metal heat exchanger tubes (1) running between metal collecting and distribution ducts (2. 3) flanking the heat exchanger block. The ends of the tubes are formed to fit onto similarly formed connections to the ducts and to provide a strong solder connection. The heat exchanger tubes can be in a block with corresponding multiple connectors to the distribution/collecting ducts. The tubes, ducts, heat exchanger plates etc. can be made of aluminum.
