A textile thread feeds through an assembly (19) in which it runs along the surface of a solid block of paraffin, prior to reaching a cross-winding assembly. The paraffin station has a flap (21) that swings between an operational position and a second position in which a spent paraffin block is exposed for replacement. The flap has a number of paraffin block position-limiters. In the highest position the paraffin block has no contact with the moving thread. In the operating mode the flap is held shut by a permanent magnet.
