<p>A reactor with a cover, base and sidewalls (18) converts wood into wood gas for combustion. The reactor has an oxidation zone (10) and a reduction zone (11) for a portion of the oxidation gas products. The reduction zone has a movable grate (19) consisting of upper (30) and lower (31) components defining the position of a gas outlet (40, 9). The gas outflow (9) is horizontal. The upper and lower grates (30, 31) are movable and are separated by a moving intermediate grate. In an alternative embodiment the upper and lower grates are fixed and the intermediate grate is movable. The intermediate grate is e.g. conical or ring-shaped. The reactor contains an impeller wheel sensor (15) detecting the fuel-state within the reactor. The reactor oxidation and reduction zones are defined by a constriction (12) with a protective metal cap (24). Also claimed is a commensurate assembly generating wood gas for use as fuel in a process to generate electricity.</p> |
