A sheet (7) is aligned along transport direction obliquely and transversely to the transport direction during transport movement of the sheet to feed cylinder (26) by simultaneous acceleration or deceleration of driven carrier in parallel movement paths, based on detection of actual position from desired position of the sheet. The oblique alignment is performed with different drive of the carrier in movement paths. The lateral alignment is performed with lateral shifting of gripper (39). An independent claim is included for device for transporting sheets and feeding sheets to sheet processing machine.
