A back light unit is provided to improve the optical efficiency and viewing angle characteristic of a prism sheet by crossing prisms of the prism sheet and lenticular lenses of a lenticular lens sheet each other. A back light unit includes at least one lamp(110) generating light, a light guide plate(120) for receiving the light emitted from the lamp and projecting a surface light, and a diffusion sheet(140) located on the light guide plate to diffuse the light transmitting the light guide plate. The back light unit further includes a prism sheet(150) having a plurality of prisms(154) formed in a first direction to condense light transmitting the diffusion sheet, and a lenticular lens sheet(160) having a plurality of lenticular lenses(164) formed in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction to re-condense light transmitting the prism sheet.
