METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CODING VIDEO USING WEIGHTED PREDICTION BASED ON MULTI-LAYER

A method and an apparatus for coding video by using the weighted prediction base on multi-layer are provided to predict an upper layer by means of a weighted factor used at the weighted prediction of a lower layer. When the present picture of an upper layer is inputted(S10), an encoder discriminates whether the present picture is a synchronized picture(S20). When the present picture is a synchronized picture, the encoder discriminates whether the reference type and reference distance of the present picture and the basic picture are the same(S30). If the reference type and reference distance of the present picture and the basic picture are the same, the encoder discriminates whether the weighted prediction is used at the basic picture(S40). If the weighted prediction is used at the basic picture, the encoder applies the weighted prediction to the present picture(S50).
