A display device and a method for improving the characteristics thereof are provided to increase the brightness, reduce the afterimage, decrease the average temperature of a screen, and improve the uniformity of temperature. An image display device comprises an image display panel(12). A heat dispersing material(16) is positioned adjacently to the image display panel. The heat dispersing material has a horizontally thermal conductivity of about 50 W/m ‹ K or more. An open framework(18) is positioned adjacently to the heat dispersing material at the opposite side of the image display panel. The image display device has a support factor of about 375 mm-W/m ‹ K or less.
