A film for an image display apparatus and a filter for an image display apparatus using the same are provided to prevent near-infrared absorption performance and color compensation performance of the film by remarkably increasing light resistance of various cyanine dyes used to absorb near-infrared and/or compensate color. A film for use in a plasma display apparatus includes a substrate and a near-infrared absorbing/color compensation layer formed on the substrate. The near-infrared absorbing/color compensation layer consists of a cyanine dye exhibiting an absorption maximum in a wavelength region from about 830 to about 880nm or from about 580 to about 600nm, an anthraquinone dye containing an anthraquinone compound, a binder resin, and a solvent.
