A sliding module of a portable terminal is provided to reduce its thickness and to guarantee the stability of a sliding operation by using a guide rod and the second guide rib, installed at the second housing, as a mobile member which slides. A sliding module of a portable terminal comprises a sliding plate, a guide rod(221), the first guide rib(217), and the second guide rib(223). The sliding plate is installed on one face of the first housing. The guide rod(221) is longitudinally extended, and is movably combined with the sliding plate while being installed on one face of the second housing. The first guide rib(217) is formed at the sliding plate. The second guide rib(223) is formed on one face of the second housing. The second guide rib(223) is slidably geared with the first guide rib(217) and has a part which is maintained to be geared with the first guide rib(217) within a sliding range of the second housing.
