A semi-transmission type of LCD is provided to simultaneously control the color reproducing range and improve the brightness according to a transmissive mode and a reflective mode. An LCD panel(102) comprises four sub-pixels each having a transmissive part and a reflective part. A data driver(104) supplies video data signals to respective sub-pixels. A gate driver(106) supplies scan pulses to respective sub-pixels. A sensor(112) detects a bright signal corresponding to surrounding brightness of the LCD panel. A data converter(110) generates gain values of transmissive and reflective modes corresponding to the ratio of achromatic signal and chromatic signal in three-color source data inputted from the outside, and converts the three-color source data into four-color data using the gain values. A timing controller(108) supplies the four-color data to the data driver and controls the gate driver and the data driver. |
