An image forming apparatus is provided to exactly control the rotation of a paper feeding roller and the paper press timing, thereby enhancing the paper feeding performance. A cam(18) is installed at a shaft(22) of a paper feeding roller(30) and rotated by the paper feeding roller. A lifting lever(18) contacted with the cam is waved with a shaft(17) as the center. The lifting lever includes two arms(16A,16B). The end of the arm and a bottom plate(24) are connected with a spring(26), and the bottom plate is waved up and down according to the wave of the arm. When a sheet is returned according to the driving of the paper feeding roller, the cam is further rotated so that the lifting lever is moved toward the initial position.
