A color image forming apparatus is provided to improve the quality of an output image without increasing cost, and easily discern an image to be corrected by units below 1 pixel when correcting electric erroneous operation. A plurality of image forming units(401) respectively forms images. Transfer units transfer a plurality of color images formed by plurality of image forming units in order. First converters(802C,802M,802Y,802K) convert coordinates of the images based on erroneous registration amount of the images to correct erroneous registration by pixels. Second converters(807C,807M,807Y,807K) convert gray scales of the images based on erroneous registration amount of the images to correct erroneous registration by units below 1 pixel. Judging units(806C,806M,806Y,806K) judge whether correction of erroneous registration by units below 1 pixel is to be performed to a target pixel, based on pixels around the target pixel. |
