A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce current consumption of the display device by displaying images while changing inversion schemes according to predetermined patterns. A display device includes a display panel(500), a timing controller(100), a data driver(200), and a scan driver(300). The timing controller outputs a second data signal, a data control signal, and a scan control signal in response to a first data signal and an external control signal. The timing controller compares the first data signal with a third data signal corresponding to a predetermined pattern of respective frames and outputs an inversion selection signal. The data driver receives the second data signal, the data control signal, and the inversion selection signal and controls the display panel. The data driver outputs a data driving signal to the display panel based on the inversion selection signal. The scan driver receives the scan control signal and outputs a scan driving signal to the display panel.
